About us
I'm Nicole — founder of Shades of the Season and a woman who believes your home should reflect every person in it. I'm in an interracial marriage with my bestfriend and husband Jakobi, and we're building a life and family that looks like both of us.
When I couldn't find holiday décor that did that, I decided to create it myself. Shades of the Season exists for every family that has ever felt invisible in the holiday aisle, because every family deserves to be seen.
My family comes in all shades. My household, my extended family, my future children — all of them deserve to find themselves in the magic of the holiday season. And so does yours.
That's why I created the Black Nutcracker Collection. Not a standard nutcracker with a darker paint job, that most likely misses the mark. But one with features and details crafted to authentically reflect the people it represents.
